Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!
The above is the greeting of Islam – May the Peace, Mercy and Blessings of God be upon you!
Welcome to our blog! The Tooting Sunday Circle has been running since 2009, alhamdulillah. Almost every Sunday since then, the circle has been a forum for gathering young Muslim women together to discuss matters of faith, education, family, friendships, health, politics, work…basically life in general! Because all these topics come up when we learn about and discuss Islam – whether we’re studying verses from the Qur’an, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), discussing hadith, or the examples of great personalities, there are always insights that are relevant to our daily lives.
And the ‘circles’ are not just about learning and discussion, but they’re also an opportunity to make new friends, to socialise in a relaxed and comfortable environment, to gain valuable skills, and to have fun! We organise activities and social events for the group, including Eid parties, picnics, regular hikes in the countryside, dinners, heritage tours and museum trips, Qiyam-ul Lails (overnight programme of prayers and talks), charity fundraisers and competitions.
All female youth from secondary school age and above are very welcome at the circles – we hope you’ll come by! And if you cannot make it to the circles, we want you to still be able to share in the knowledge – so we will try to post summaries of topics discussed on Sundays in case you missed out, or just want a reminder of what was covered. Feel free to share the knowledge, inshaAllah. We will also let you know about activities and events that are planned.
May God bless you! 🙂
