Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!
The above is the greeting of Islam – May the Peace, Mercy and Blessings of God be upon you dear reader.
Welcome to our blog! The Sunday Circle has been running since January 2009, alhamdulillah!
The circles began in Tooting and moved in 2017 to Kingston Mosque. There’s been a circle almost every Sunday since we started. Since then it has been a safe space for gathering young Muslim women together to discuss matters of life and faith.
The ‘circles’ are not just about learning and discussion, but they’re also an opportunity to make new friends, to socialise in a relaxed and comfortable environment, to gain valuable skills, and to have fun 🙂 .
Some of our activities and social events include:
- Regular hikes in the countryside
- Eid parties
- Heritage tours and outdoor trips
- Qiyam-ul Lails (overnight programme of prayers and talks)
- Charity fundraisers
- Helping the community through blood drives, litter-picking, or helping the homeless.
All girls and women of secondary school age and above are very welcome at the circles – we meet, come rain or shine, on Sunday mornings at 11.10am – 1pm. It doesn’t matter what your background is, anyone who fits the above category is welcome – we hope you’ll come by! And if you cannot make it to the circles, you can still share in the knowledge posted on the blog by a variety of sisters from the circle.
